Dane Jacobson, DVM
Veterinarian - Owner
Dr Jacobson grew up in Wamego, and graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. After graduating, he and his wife, Kim, wanted to experience other parts of the United States, so he worked in practices in Massachusetts, Maryland and Nebraska before returning to Kansas.

Dr Jacobson's dream had always been to return to Wamego. In 1997 he made that happen, and started The Mobile Vet - the first fully mobile veterinary clinic registered in the state of Kansas! In 2005 the Jacobson's purchased the property where Deer Creek Vet is now located, and opened the doors in July 2007. Dr Jacobson is now focusing on small animal medicine and surgery, and enjoys orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.

The Jacobson's live in Wamego and have raised three boys - Jordan lives in New York City, Drew lives in Kansas City and Ian lives in Colorado. Their pets include two dogs, Hank and Honey, and two cats, Royal and Chief.
Jennifer Schermerhorn, DVM
Associate Veterinarian
Dr Schermerhorn grew up in Guilderland, New York, and graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. She grew up riding hunter/jumpers, playing flute and creating art. She has lived in Wamego with her family for many years. Dr Schermerhorn has a special interest in cats. She is a Certified Cat Friendly Veterinarian, and member of The American Association of Feline Practitioners.

Dr Schermerhorn has one dog, a Chihuahua mix named Dougal, and 4 cats - Purl, Sparta, Doug, and Mitchell. Dr Schermerhorn lives with her family on a small farm in Wamego.

In her free time Dr Schermerhorn loves to sculpt, act, and drive her mini pony, Freddie Mercury.
Mikaleigh Woodward, DVM
Associate Veterinarian
Dr Woodward was born in Dodge City, Kansas and was raised in Newton, Kansas. She graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2022. Dr Woodward worked at Deer Creek Vet for many years during her undergraduate and vet school years. She enjoys seeing animals of all sizes, but particularly loves being out on the road providing large animal mobile services to our clients.

Dr Woodward and her husband Lance live on a property outside of Wamego with some horses and a couple coonhounds. When Dr Woodward is not at the clinic, she enjoys quality family time, working with horses, and spending time in the gym. During the winter months you can catch her coaching girls wrestling for St. Mary's High School.
Kim Jacobson
Hospital Manager
Kim grew up in Mulvane, Kansas and attended Kansas State University. She received her degree in Interior Design in 1984, the same year she married Dr Jacobson. She worked in retail and residential development while living on the east coast, and worked in contract design when the Jacobson's moved back to Kansas. In 2004 Kim started helping Dr Jacobson with his busy mobile practice, and has been working with him ever since.

When not at the clinic, Kim enjoys reading, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
Isabel Bond
Veterinary Assistant
Isabel grew up on a commercial cow-calf operation north of Manhattan, KS. She was heavily involved in showing livestock at county, state, and national shows. Isabel obtained her Bachelors degree in Animal Science Production/Management with a Business minor at Kansas State University. She will graduate from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2028.

In her free time, Isabel helps on the family farm, spends time hiking with her dog Ollie, bake sourdough, hang out with friends and play competitive volleyball.
Ellie Vickers
Veterinary Assistant
Ellie is from Haysville, Kansas and is a student at K-State. She is a junior in Animal Science, Production Management option. Ellie also is a member of the American Freedom Riders Drill Team.

When not working hard at her studies, Ellie likes to spend time with her three dogs, and horse, Dulah.

Benji Scruggs
Kennel Technician/Animal Care Specialist
Benji is a life long Wamegoan. They are an artist and enjoy acting in local theater productions.

Benji has a passion for animals and is a very calming influence on our boarding and hospitalized patients. They have lots of experience at home with their 2 cats (Randy Butternubs, Hamilton), 2 dogs (Jordy, Frankie) and Beau the bird
